Grammy nominated soprano, Dr. Caroline Worra, has been hailed by Opera News as “a serious artist destined for international stages...with a superb soprano and solid technique.” The New Yorker calls Caroline "a new soprano powerhouse" and Opera-L raves that "she has precisely the same magical quality that Sills had." In Time Out New York, the composer Mark Adamo had this to say: "Caroline's an immaculate musician and vocally complete, but that's only where a singer starts. Her sound is utterly her own--rich, bright, crackling with intensity--and every time I hear her, she's a bolder, more inventive actress...her intensity was such, you could hardly draw breath...as Leonard Bernstein once said of Maria Callas, if I could sing like that I’d never write another note again." She has sung over 50 different operatic roles ranging from Handel, Mozart, and Verdi through 21st century composers including 10 World and American Premieres. Ms. Worra was internationally acclaimed for her performances of Jenny in The Mines of Sulphur (2007 Grammy nominated CD) and as the title role for The Greater Good; Passion of Boule de Suif (Opera News and New York Times pick for one of the top classical CDs of 2007). She has sung for over 20 different opera companies including The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, and The Lyric Opera of Chicago as well as a recital at Carnegie Hall (Weill Hall). Dr. Worra performed on two U.S. National Tours singing Violetta in LaTraviata and Rosalinda in DieFledermaus and has performed overseas as Anne True Love in The Rake's Progress at Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Sicily and Jenny in The Mines of Sulphur at The Wexford Festival Opera in Ireland (winner of The 2009 Best Opera of Ireland Award). Caroline has a Doctor of Music degree in vocal performance from Indiana University and is a recipient of the Shoshana Foundation - Richard F. Gold Career Grant.
